Overview
What is KPV?
KPV is a tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val), the C-terminal fragment of alpha-MSH, used as a research compound in studies of anti-inflammatory and immune-modulation pathways. Supplied for in-vitro and laboratory research use only.
Research applications
Where KPV is used in research
Areas of study described in the published literature. Listed for research reference only.
Intestinal inflammation
Used in research on inflammatory markers in cell and animal colitis models.
Immune modulation
Studied for anti-inflammatory activity as an alpha-MSH C-terminal fragment.
Transporter uptake
Applied to investigate PepT1-mediated uptake into epithelial and immune cells.
Melanocortin pharmacology
Explored alongside core melanocortin peptides to compare anti-inflammatory profiles.
Mechanism in research
How KPV is studied
In published research KPV was reported to be taken up into intestinal epithelial and immune cells via the PepT1 transporter, and in that setting to reduce markers of inflammation in cell and mouse colitis models. Additional research described an anti-inflammatory profile distinguishable from that of the core melanocortin peptides. These pathways are investigated in models of intestinal and immune inflammation; corresponding mechanisms in humans are not established.
Reported targets & pathways
