What is Epithalon?
Epithalon (Epitalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide, Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, derived from the amino-acid composition of the pineal extract Epithalamin. It is used as a research compound in studies of telomerase activity, pineal melatonin rhythms, and cellular-aging pathways. Supplied for in-vitro and laboratory research use only.

How Epithalon is studied
In published research, Epithalon was reported to induce expression of the telomerase catalytic subunit, telomerase enzymatic activity, and telomere elongation in telomerase-negative human fetal fibroblast cultures. Separate work in aged rhesus monkeys reported restored night-time melatonin output from the pineal gland, and a stem-cell study reported increased expression of neurogenic differentiation markers, with molecular modelling suggesting binding to histone H1 sites as a possible epigenetic mechanism. These pathways are investigated in cell and animal models; the corresponding mechanisms in humans are not established.

took the scenic route through customs
Ordered after the podcast episode this summer made the rounds in our lab group chat, since we run a circadian model and wanted to see the pineal data for ourselves. The peptide itself is fine, clean lyo and the telomerase readout sits where the published cell work says it should. The four stars are for the transit. US customs sat on the parcel in Chicago for eleven days with no movement, then it showed up in Madison the next morning. Not Miro's fault exactly but plan for it if you are stateside.

telomerase readout held
We picked up the 10mg for a telomerase activity assay we run in fibroblast lines, mostly to see whether a new supplier would shift our baseline. It did not. Activity came up in the treated wells at roughly the level the older papers describe and the untreated controls stayed flat, so nothing odd in the vial. Went into solution without a fuss. Leeds, delivery took about a week which is what I expected from abroad. The ten vials went quicker than I budgeted for, which is on me.
